Recently Marvel has dropped a new trailer for the next Avengers film titled “Avengers Endgame”, and oh boy it really has caught the attention of the entire world. It will be released soon enough on April 2019 so until then, let’s check out what we know about Avengers Endgame so far!
Avengers Endgame Release Date
First thing first, what we care most about is when this movie will be released. According to the trailer, the official date will be April 26, 2019. Before that, we will have Captain Marvel 2019 which is set on March 8, 2019. And after Avengers Endgame we will also have a new Spiderman movie called Spider Man Far From Home on July 5, 2019 (guess we know what will happen to Spidey huh?).
Who Will Appear in Avengers Endgame?
Just like Avengers Infinity War, we can expect that Avengers Endgame will also feature the same massive cast. On IMDb, they already put on quite a huge list of cast in this movie including:
- Karen Gillan as Nebula
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
- Josh Brolin as Thanos
- Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
- Bradley Cooper as Rocket

- Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
- Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones
- Don Cheadle as James Rhodes / War Machine
- Ty Simpkins as Harley Keener
- Benedict Wong as Wong
- Terry Notary as Teen Groot
Of course, there are possibly more characters that haven’t been revealed yet (like Dr. Strange?). With that said, let’s move on to the list of characters who died and characters who survived Thanos’s “snap”:
- Characters who died before and during the snap: Doctor Strange, Spider Man, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon, Bucky Barnes, Heimdall, Loki, Mantis, Gamora, Drax, Star Lord, Maria Hill, Nick Fury, and the Wasp.
- Characters who survived after the snap: Thanos, Iron Man, Thor, Bruce Banner, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nebula, War Machine, Okoye, M’Baku, Rocket Raccoon, and Ant Man.
So comparing the list of characters who died and those who survived, we probably can have a good guess of who will ultimately live in and after Avengers Endgame. That said; we should expect some surprises since there are still a fair share of unanswered mysteries.
Iron Man is having a rough time…
At the beginning of trailer, we see Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man is drifting in space with a spaceship. He looks pale and extremely depressed given what happened to him and people he cares most. We also see Tony recording his “final words” to Pepper, hinting that he has already expected to die soon due to the lack of provisions.
So does that mean he will die? Well… not quite. Remember back in Avengers Infinity War, Doctor Strange traded the Time Stone for Tony’s life. That means Tony has to have some important role in Endgame for sure. This also means that such premise of Tony drifting in space is just a start. He will definitely survive, or someone will rescue him. Nonetheless, no doubt he is experiencing an immense pain given what happened in Infinity War.
Captain America is also devastated…
Despite having certain conflicts throughout their life, Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America and Tony Stark are still good friends. And of course, our Capt does not look good at all either after what happened.
We see a shaved Captain America with his old suit, trying to cope with his lost. We also see him opening his locket showing an old picture of his love Peggy Carter. For some reason, it further strengthens our speculation that Captain America’s story will officially be over after Avengers Endgame.
Some people also speculate the same after Chris Evans’ tweet:
Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.
— Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) October 4, 2018
However, let’s remind us all that this is still speculation at most since both Chris Evans and Joe Russo has not confirmed such rumor and even said that there will be surprises which we do not expect. So in the end, nothing is 100% sure yet and if Marvel can manage to surprise us, we’re in!
The Hulk is now in fray… for real!
One aching question which many fans have been talking about is: why did Bruce Banner a.k.a The Hulk not join in the battle with Thanos?
Even now, no one has a clear answer for this. Some people even come up with an idea that The Hulk was scared of Thanos. But to be honest, this does not make much sense at all. According to Joe Russo, Bruce’s disappearance actually has a much more important role, saying:
“This was an interesting journey we went on with Banner, trying to decide how we move him forward in the Marvel Universe. What makes him unique as a character is that there is a host body that is being fought over by two distinct personalities who hate each other. And both want control of the host body. So we thought an interesting direction to take him in is what if Banner, who typically uses the Hulk to solve crisis situations, what if the Hulk were no longer interested in solving those problems for Banner? So that the relationship is becoming increasingly dysfunctional. That’s what’s going on here.
People have speculated whether there was some fear on the Hulk’s part about having to face Thanos again. But I think ultimately what it is, is that he’s tired of playing hero to Bruce Banner.”
Thanks to the trailer, we now know that he will appear in Avengers Endgame. And who knows? Bruce may be able to control his Hulk persona this time and definitely his role will be much clearer in Endgame.
Thor really seems to be pissed off
To certain extent it was a humiliation for the God of Thunder Thor after his battle with Thanos. To fight against the Mad Titan, he even forged a new hammer – the Stormbreaker – and he seemed to almost win against Thanos.
In the trailer, Thor looks extremely serious and probably really angry. We cannot blame him though since he has lost his brother, a huge part of his homeland, and of course, lots of his comrades. And one thing can be sure: Thor will definitely want a payback.
Black Widow is trying to keep calm
In the trailer, we see Natasha Romanoff a.k.a Black Widow explaining to Bruce Banner about what happened in their last battle with Thanos. Honestly we still don’t much about her role in Endgame. But clearly, she is also trying her best to keep calm after the huge lost in Infinity War. And since Black Widow is going to have her very own movie, let’s just say that she will not disappear anytime soon after Avengers Endgame.
Hawkeye reveals himself to be Ronin
Another missing member of The Avengers during Infinity War has now revealed himself to be Clint Barton a.k.a Hawkeye working as Ronin. Based on the trailer, it seems Black Widow will accidently meet him on street, which makes us wondering whether he will be willingly return to The Avengers or not.
What role will Captain Marvel play in Avengers Endgame?
By now we are 100% certain that Carol Denver a.k.a Captain Marvel will appear in the film. In fact, fans have already suspected this right after the first reveal of a new Captain Marvel film. The only question is: “what is her role in the film?”
For those who don’t know, Captain Marvel has always been among the most powerful Avengers based on the original Marvel Comics. Her strongest ability relates to energy manipulation which (in the most basic) allows her to fire highly potent energy-blast and also, absorb energy to bolster her power. Furthermore, she once became the Binary – an extremely powerful form which allows her to manipulate energy in cosmic level, including electromagnetism, gravity, and even light. Although she lost such power for quite a while now, people suspect that she can still harness her former Binary power once more. But when that moment can happen remains to be seen.
In any case, we expect that Captain Marvel will keep the same kind of power in MCU. Plus, it is possible that Captain Marvel can be one of the key elements to defeat Thanos… Or at least that is what fans have been theorizing.
Ant Man will definitely return!
By the end of Avengers Endgame trailer, there is a brief scene in which Steve Rogers and Black Widow look at a camera record showing non-other-than Scott Lang a.k.a the infamous Ant Man. The video is said to be recorded long time ago but at that time, no one seemed to answer the man and now, he is now in hiding.
This small scene intentionally shows us that Ant Man will make his appearance in the film. Given his extraordinary power, we can also expect that he will play an important role in turning the tide for the Avengers.
And that’s it folks! More information regarding Avengers Endgame may be updated and for now, thank you and stay tune for more news in the future!
